Mike Day won the U.S. BMX trials in Chula Vista, California on the weekend. Only a win in the event could get him on the team.

“I have no idea how I feel. Beyond belief,” Day told The Associated Press in a telephone interview. “So many of my friends and family were here, they made the pressure somewhat tolerable and now I’m going. I’m going!”

Day joins Kyle Bennet on the Olympic BMX team and the third spot is likely to go to Donny Robinson, the world BMX champion. Jill Kintner has a place on the women’s team.
