Marion Jones shouldn’t be jailed
Alan Gold in the the Australian Newspaper writes a case for not sending Marion Jones to prison as a punishment for her crimes.
He writes:
“Prison is an all-too-easy judicial remedy for those who abuse society. Where a criminal is a danger to the public, incarceration is an appropriate avenue for judges. But surely there are certain crimes and certain people for whom prison is utterly inappropriate, people for whom the public shame of a criminal trial and the ruination of a reputation are the ultimate and most devastating punishments.”
