Katie Mactier gold medal favourite for 3000m Individual Pursuit

Australia’s Katie Mactier happened on cycling almost by accident but now she’s preparing for the Beijing Olympics where she is a hot favourite to take out the event.

The advertising executive took up the sport 9 years ago at the age of 24 after discovering an appetite for the sport while competing in triathlons.

Mactier won the gold medal a the 2006 Commonwealth Games after smashing the world record in Athens at the 2004 Olympic Games.
