After problems in London and Paris, the torch relay avoided protesters in San Francisco by changing the route and cancelling the closing ceremony the city had planned.

The torch was transported by bus at different points along the route. Rather than bringing people together to celebrate the coming Olympics, the relay is creating division and in some instances outbreaks of violence. While people have the right to protest for whatever beliefs they hold, attacking the torch runners is unacceptable.

The torch relay continues its South America leg today in Argentina.
