Chiharu Icho and younger sister Kaori Icho gained Olympic spots in the 47 kg and 63 kg divisions in the women’s wrestling.

“Today Makiko was especially tough,” Chiharu Icho said after defeating her rival. “She really put everything into it. Even if I lost, I would still be going to Beijing, so maybe that’s why I couldn’t score a point.”

Saori Yoshida at 55 kgs also made it through to the Beijing Olympics.
