The Greek Weightlifting Federation is blaming its coach Christos Iakovou, for Greece’s weightlifting drug scandal.

Eleven Greek weightlifters were suspended after testing positive for illegal substances.

“Mr. Iakovou acted on his own initiative, without informing the federation, and acknowledges himself that he did not follow the proper procurement procedure. … Responsibility for this falls on the national coach,” said federation secretary Vassilis Gerakaris.
