Closing ceremony - what did you think?
The fireworks are still going on over Beijing tonight as the Olympics comes to a close. The closing ceremony wasn’t as long as the first one and not as spectacular, but still very well done.
We had a short section to mark the handover of the Olympics from Beijing to London. London’s mayor Boris Johnson looked a little out of place. Leona Lewis sang an old Led Zepplin song with Jimmy Page playing the guitar. It is going to be interesting to see how London does the opening ceremony. I am sure it will have more of rock concert feel, than a Chinese history lesson and acrobatics display which we witnessed in Beijing.
Just when you thought it was all over, the Paralympics will start for two more weeks of sport and fun in Beijing. It will be interesting if it gets even a fraction of media coverage of the Olympics just gone.
Was that the best Great Britain could do in an 8 minute window to showcase itself? Give me a break! Even the interview by the Olympic BBC Presenters with Gordon Brown was more inpiring and a lot more fun. Onward and upward!
bad ceremony
I am still watching it here in New York City, and the performers just finished and I think it wasnt as good as the opening. I was confuse the opening had a story , and I think the closing should of had a story line as well. I hope the rest is better. It was a great summer games. It should have a bang of a ceremony.
What was that, I like the formation but NBC could have showed a close up, but then they don’t announce the teams they just run on. Huh? Can you say disorderly? You can’t tell you is from where I hope the London games, better yet the winter games are better.Its 8:46 pm on a Sunday night why are they still showing finals? Also why can’t I find any olympic merchandise from other countries? Not to get off the topic. More to come……
To T Willias, I think the closing ceremony’s story line is that the olympics’ flame was extinguished but the flame in peoples hearts never extinguish.
