China says Spielberg never took on adviser role
Steven Spielberg resigned last week as technical adviser to the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony. Liu Guijin, China’s special representative on Sudan’s Darfur region, said that because Spielberg never signed the contract he wasn’t resigning from any position.
“Theoretically he was not art[istic] director to the … Beijing Olympic games.”
“It was a great surprise for me that he should have resigned. There is no such question of resignation,” said Liu.
