Athlete families might miss out on Olympic tickets

Every Olympics has its controversies and on of the problems people have had with the Beijing Olympics is the general lack of tickets for overseas spectators. The Beijing Olympics are the first Olympics where all of the events have been pretty much sold out.

For athletes’ families it is has been a huge disappointment to get hotel reservations and flights only to miss out on getting tickets to see their family members compete.

“We might be watching it on Chinese TV at this rate,” said Peter Shaw, the father of New Zealand hockey stars Brad and Hayden Shaw.

“They said they would be giving priority to families, but we are all up in the air just hoping something is going to occur.”
