Jordanian King gives Olympics thumbs up
Jordanian King Abdullah II has given the Beijing Olympics a thumbs up and has said it will be an opportunity for the world to see Chinese culture and the economic progress they have made.
“I believe millions of people everyday read about China’s extraordinary growth and progress,” he said, adding that “there is a lot of additional excitement around the world just because China is hosting the games.”
He also added, “I have no doubt that China will make the upcoming games one of the most memorable in history.”

Lama Temple (Yong He Gong)
Lama Temple or Yong He Gong is one of the most famous Buddhist temples in Beijing. It was originally the home of Qing dynasty Prince Yong before he became emperor. After he became emperor in 1723 some of the grounds were converted to a temple. People come to pray and burn incense.

Payla defeats Said 29-15
Flyweight Violito Payla from the Phillipines beat Khalid Said from England 29-15 in the International Amateur Boxing Association World Boxing Championships at the University of Illinois-Chicago Pavilion.
“I’m ready to face anyone in my class,” said Payla in a supreme show of confidence. “Even today, I’m willing to fight Warren.”
Payla goes on to fight Warren on Wednesday for a place in the quarterfinals and a ticket to Beijing.
