Usain Bolt sets new world record in 100 meters

Usain Bolt of Jamaica can now claim the title of wold’s fastest man after winning the 100 meter sprint with a time of 9.72 seconds at the Reebok Grand Prix. His time was 0.02 seconds faster than the previous record set by fellow sprinter, Asafa Powell.

Bolt doesn’t even consider the 100 to be his best race. He was using it to try to improve his time in his preferred 400 meters.

Tyson Gay from the United States finished the race in 9.85 seconds.

The showdown at the Beijing Olympics is set to be one of the most exciting events.
