Philippine diver makes it through to the Olympics

Sheila Mae Perez made it through to the Beijing Olympics after finishing 17th in the 3 meter springboard event.

“The judging system is super strict and lots of new criteria came in, so she did very well considering all that,” said Aquatics chief Mark Joseph.

“If Sheila continues to train in China, and gets exposed to the Fina Grand Prix in various countries, she will adapt to the world-level judging,” added Joseph. “Then we can see her strike for the top positions in Beijing.”

The Philippines now have 10 athletes qualified for the Beijing Olympics. The others include swimmers Miguel Molina, Daniel Coakley, JB Walsh, Ryan Arabejo and Cristel Simms, taekwondo-jins Tshomlee Go and Mary Antoinette Rivero, boxer Harry Ta?±amor, and archer Mark Javier.
