Philippine boxer Joan Tipon hoping to make it to Beijing

Philippine boxer Joan Tipon recently lost to Orlando Tacuyan, also from the Philippines at the 2007 Smart National Open.

“I had trouble trying to get into my ideal weight as a bantam after my arrival from the Ostrova Grand Prix tournament in the Czech Republic and I was prevailed upon to fight in the featherweight class,” Tipon said.

He is now focusing his efforts on the Boxing World Championships being held later this month in Chicago.

“I feel bad that I let my fellow Negrenses down with this loss but I’m glad that there are people like you who still have faith in me. I really hope to make up for these two losses by winning my future important bouts”.
