Morgan Hamm out of the Olympics

Morgan Hamm has pulled out of the Beijing Olympics, due to an ankle injury.

“I have been dealing with this for the last year and it has gotten worse here in Beijing,” Morgan Hamm said in a statement issued Thursday afternoon through USA Gymnastics. “Right now I am unable to perform my tumbling skills at the level that I need to. This has an impact on my ability to contribute to the team’s goals and I believe by continuing I would be putting myself at further risk.”

Morgan’s brother Paul Hamm who won gold in in the individual all-around competition at the Athens Olympics also had to withdraw.

Alexander Artemev or David Durante. Raj Bhavsar was expected to replace Paul Hamm.
