Mara Yamauchi wins Osaka marathon
Britain’s Mara Yamauchi won the Osaka International Women’s Marathon on Sunday in 2 hours, 25 minutes and 10 seconds. The win should see her earn a spot in her country’s Olympic team. Tomo Morimoto came in second, leaving Olympic qualification still in doubt.
“I made a mess of things last year,” said Yamauchi, who finished ninth in the 2007 world championships in Osaka. “I was determined to be stronger this time.”
