Liu Xiang might miss last chance to prepare for Olympics

Chinese champion 110 meter hurdler Liu Xiang might miss the last chance to compete before the Beijing Olympics starting in August. A tight hamstring kept him from a competition last week in New York.

“We will put his spikes on and run him over the hurdles fast,” his coach Sun Haiping said.

“If there is still trouble, then he will pull out (of Sunday’s race). If he comes through without a problem, then we will certainly race.

“In training over the past couple of days Liu still suffered some pain but the problems are not related to his hamstring but are from other areas.”

Xiang is favorite to win the 110 meter hurdles and will have massive support from his home crowd.
