Gold medal could be out of reach for Tom Daley

For diving prodigy Tom Daley a gold medal at the Beijing Olympics could be just out of reach and he may have to wait for the London 2012 Olympics.

Daley is yet to learn the ‘Taylor’ dive has a degree of difficulty of 3.8 and consists of back two-and-a-half somersaults with two-and-a-half twists in the pike position. Daley’s most difficult dive is rated 3.4, so he will have to achieve high scores in his dives and hope for other athletes to make mistakes to win the medal.

Tom Daley is just 14 years old is yet to add the the Taylor dive to his repertoire, but will be probably begin to learn the dive after the Beijing Olympics.

“I think I could be strong enough to do it, but not as well as some of the other divers. Next year, after the Olympics, I’ll be building up my strength and conditioning,” said Daley.
