Double amputee Pistorius beats ban to compete in Beijing Olympics
Just watching CNN tonight I learned that double amputee Oscar Pistorius can at least try to qualify to compete in the Beijing Olympics after beating a ban by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
The IAAF initially said he cannot compete because the blades attached to his legs would give an unfair advantage.
“I don’t think ‘really happy’ describes it. I’m ecstatic. The battle has been going on for far too long. It is a victory for sports in general. I think this day will go down in history,” Pistorius told a news conference in Milan, where his lawyers are based.
“Now I can definitely say the truth has come out. I have the opportunity once again to chase my dream of the Olympics, if not 2008, in 2012.”
Let’s hope Oscar Pistorius can qualify for the Beijing Olympics.
I just hope the CAS has made the right decision. I mean its a great STORY, but so would a lot of stories that aren’t right. If he is getting unfair advantage from his blades, he shouldn’t be at the olympics!
Thats my thoughts.
