Chinese runner insures his legs for US$13.3 million

Chinese hurdler Liu Xiang has insured his legs for a reported $US13.3 million.

“You can’t really put a concrete figure on this,” Liu was quoted as saying by the Beijing News newspaper. “They’re priceless,” Liu said.

Xiang won gold in the 110 meter hurdles at the 2000 Athens Games, set a new world record last year and won a gold medal at the World Athletics Championships. He is the hot favorite to win the event at next years Beijing Olympics.

Liu won the 110-metre hurdles at the 200 Athens Olympics, set a new world record of 12.88 seconds last year, and in August won gold at the World Athletics Championships.
