Krishna Poonia of India qualifies for Beijing Olympics

Discus thrower Krishna Poonia from India became the country’s fifth athlete to qualify for the Beijing Olympics.
She finished sixth in the Tennessee Relays, held at Mt. SAC Relays at Hilmer Lodger Stadium-Walnut in California.
The other athletes include Vikas Gowda (men’s discus), Renjith Maheshwary (triple jump), Anju Bobby George (long jump) and Susmita Singha Roy (heptathlon).

“I don’t think any marathoner will qualify for the Beijing Olympics,” Athletics Federation of India (AFI) secretary Lalit Bhanot said.
