Brazilian beach volleyball star Julian to compete despite injury

Brazilian beach volleyball star Julian said she will be competing in the Beijing Olympics despite a knee injury that has kept her out of action for a month.

“Today I can tell, I’ll be in Beijing,” she said on Tuesday, her 25th birthday. “I don’t feel any pain on my knee and the possibility to make training normally is my best gift. I certainly will represent Brazil in the Olympic Games very well. I’m very happy and confident to conquer the gold medal with Larissa.”

Juliana and Larissa have a chance at a medal. The U.S. team of Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh however are favorite to win gold in the women’s beach volleyball.
