Back injury puts out Taylor’s dream of fourth Olympics

Britain’s Leon Taylor is hanging up his speedos due to a recurring injury just three months before what would have been his fourth Olympic Games.

Taylor and Peter Waterfield became Britains first Olympic diving medalists in 44 years when they won silver in the Synchronised Platform event in Athens in 2004. Known as the “odd couple” due to the height disparity between them (Taylor is much taller), they also claimed bronze at the 2005 world champs in Montreal.

The 30 year old is going to be a huge loss to his former team-mate Tom Daley who is the European platform champion and only turned 14 last week.
