Argentina stages come back to beat Australia in Diamond Cup
Australia were playing well last night in the Diamond Cup against Argentina. They had a lead of 19 points in the third quarter. Argentina however, staged a successful comeback. A 3-pointer in the dying minutes of the game secured Argentina’s win 95-91.
“We played against a world class team,” Australia coach Brian Goorjian said, “and we played tough. But we saw the difference.”
Luis Scola scored 32 points - 28 of them in the second half.
Australia and Argentina are in Group A at the Beijing Olympics, along with Croatia, Iran, Lithuania and Russia.
China thrashed Iran 75-46 to take third place in the Diamond Cup.
